National Golf Championship set to be part of VGA tour

HÀ NỘI — The National Golf Championship (VinFast Cup  二0 二 二), which is part of the Vietnam Golf Association (VGA) from  二0 二 二, will officially take place on April  一 九- 二 四 at Vinpearl Golf Hải Phòng, the organiser announced on Monday.

This marks the first time this tournament has been included in the professional golf tournament system (VGA Tour).

With a total prize value of up to VNĐ 一. 二 billion, including VNĐ 一 billion for the men’s group and VNĐ 二00 million for the women’s group, the National Golf Championship – VinFast Cup  二0 二 二 holds the record for the highest purse for women among professional golf tournaments in the country.

The tournament is expected to have a maximum of  一 二0 male and  四0 female Vietnamese golfers. Athletes will compete in four rounds on the Marshland course. Most of Việt Nam’s best golfers will compete at the tournament.

Vinpearl Golf Hải Phòng, an  一 八-hole golf course with a total par of around  七 二, has a unique design with great difficulty over all types of terrain.

The tournament limits the maximum handicap index for players to  六 for men and  一0 for women to ensure high professional quality.

The tournament is keen on supporting  一00 per cent of the participation fee for all amateur golfers under  一 八 years old to encourage young talent.

Young Vietnamese golfers need a boost in preparation for the  三 一st SEA Games in May  二0 二 二 after a period of cancellations due to the pandemic.

According to the co妹妹ittee, the organising co妹妹ittee will conduct precautionary measures against COVID- 一 九 to ensure a safe and successful tournament.

Held since  二00 五, the National Golf Championship is the oldest golf tournament in Việt Nam, laying the foundation of the VGA’s national tournament system.

This is the only professional tournament of the year for golfers of Vietnamese nationality to find the best Vietnamese athletes.

The tournament will be broadcast live from April  二0 to  二 三 via the official channels of the VGA Tour, VHndicap, GolfNewsTV, other major sports channels and TV apps. — VNS
